Sector Specific Assurance Event Series

Join us this June 2025 for our pioneering sector-specific AI Assurance event series examining how Justice & Emergency Services, Health & Social Care, and Defense sectors are implementing ethical AI frameworks. These interactive sessions will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and technical experts to explore the unique challenges and innovative approaches each sector faces when embedding ethical principles in practice. The insights gathered will inform a comprehensive paper showcasing how the UK's leading organisations in high-stakes sectors are developing context-specific assurance mechanisms that balance innovation with responsibility. This initiative aligns with the UK's regulatory approach to AI adoption, highlighting practical implementations of ethics frameworks, risk management protocols, and verification systems that ensure AI systems remain safe, reliable, and aligned with sector-specific duties of care.

Assurance in Defense

This high-level session brings together defense industry leaders, policymakers, and AI ethics experts to explore the critical intersection of AI assurance and defense applications. The event will examine how the defense sector can effectively implement AI assurance mechanisms while addressing unique ethical considerations and safety requirements. The event provides a unique platform for technology professionals to engage with domain experts to examine current best practices.

Through keynote speeches, expert panels, and practical use cases, participants will gain insights into building trust in AI systems, implementing robust assurance frameworks, and ensuring responsible innovation in defense applications. The event will culminate in a forward-looking discussion on the future requirements for AI assurance in defense, followed by networking opportunities for attendees to connect and share experiences.

This session is particularly timely as the defense sector continues to lead in AI adoption while grappling with complex ethical considerations and the need for rigorous safety standards. The insights and discussions from this event will contribute to a broader understanding of sector-specific AI assurance approaches and inform future regulatory frameworks in the UK.

Assurance in Justice Emergency Services

Leading technology companies, practitioners and AI ethics specialists will convene for a focused session examining AI assurance mechanisms within the justice and emergency services sector.

This specialised event features expert panel discussions and presentations exploring how tech industry practices, ethical frameworks, standards and quality assurance methodologies can be effectively adapted for AI systems deployed in emergency response and justice applications.

Industry leaders will share insights on implementing robust testing protocols, establishing accountability measures, and ensuring responsible AI development specifically tailored to the high-stakes nature of emergency and justice services.

Through panel sessions and technical presentations, participants will gain practical knowledge about sector-specific challenges including data governance in sensitive contexts, real-time system monitoring requirements, and maintaining transparency while handling confidential information.

The event provides a unique platform for technology professionals to engage with domain experts, examine current best practices, and contribute to the development of industry standards for AI assurance in justice and emergency services applications. Special emphasis will be placed on supporting innovation with the reliability and fairness requirements essential to public safety systems.

Assurance in Health and Social Care

This event will explore crucial aspects of AI assurance in healthcare settings. The session will bring together industry experts, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to discuss the implementation of AI verification, validation, and monitoring mechanisms within the health and social care sector. The event opens with a keynote on building trust through AI assurance, followed by a comprehensive panel discussion on industry developments and progress in healthcare AI implementation.

The afternoon will feature practical demonstrations of real-world applications in healthcare, complemented by a presentation from DSIT on essential tools and frameworks for responsible AI innovation. A fireside panel focusing on critical requirements for AI assurance in the NHS will round out the formal proceedings, followed by networking opportunities.

The health and social care sector represents a critical frontier for AI assurance, dealing with sensitive personal data, life-critical medical decisions, and complex stakeholder relationships. The existing regulatory framework, including clinical safety standards and data protection requirements, provides a foundation for developing comprehensive AI assurance mechanisms.

The sector's experience with evidence-based practice and clinical governance offers valuable insights for broader AI assurance frameworks, particularly as healthcare organisations work to balance the transformative potential of AI with robust safety measures and ethical considerations.

This event forms part of a broader sector-specific AI Assurance campaign and will contribute to a paper showcasing AI adoption in sector-specific contexts, particularly highlighting how members are embedding ethics in their practices.
