Call for Contributions: Blue Lights Campaign Week 2024!

Call for contributions! We are inviting our members to share their news, views, thoughts and experiences for our #techUKBlueLights Campaign Week. Submit a blog, vlog, video statement or series of quotes to help us answer: ‘how can technology help reshape emergency services from improving crime prevention and public safety to better support for victims?’

Continued investment in cutting-edge technology plays a vital role in helping emergency services stay ahead of the curve. So, where have you successfully worked with a force? What outcome has that work delivered? What were some of the barriers you encountered along the way? Or, if you don’t have a case study to share – what are some of your thoughts and experiences as an organisation operating in or, looking to break into this market? Whatever the experience, thought or view - we want to hear from you!

Through our engagement across Government and with policing and fire leads we have drawn together the following key themes to help shape your submission.

Themes include:

  • Delivering interoperability in emergency services – how should the quality of policing and fire services’ data improve to enable successful data sharing, to aid successful coordination and collaboration between services.

  • Digitally enabled safer streets – What is the role of digital, data and technology in supporting Labour’s ‘take back our streets’ mission?  What emerging technologies can be used to prevent crime such as violence against women and girls (VAWG), knife crime, hate crime and shoplifting? What’s next for fire risk prevention?

  • Putting victims first – How can the tech sector, third sector and emergency services collaborate to maintain public safety and support victims of crime? Can technology help consolidate community trust in policing? Where is the Justice system failing victims and, where could the increased use of digital, data and technology help improve justice outcomes? In light of recent inquiries, including the recent Grenfell inquiry report, what more can be done for victims? Are reporting services enough?

Please note our campaign week guidelines have changed. We are now limited on the number of slots for content. The new instructions are below, but if you have any questions please contact [email protected]
