Contribute to our climate resilience campaign

Make Britain a clean energy superpower – listed as one of the Labour Party’s five missions that helped to secure the party as the new government. Outlined within this mission was the understanding that climate resilience is becoming a more important issue and one that needs addressing to ensure the UK’s systems are able to respond to the increasing instances and scale of extreme weather.

In response, techUK is launching a six-month campaign centred on the role of digital technology in enabling a more resilient UK through its infrastructure.

The campaign will seek to understand the different technologies available to the UK, largely focused on the private sector but also looking at how government bodies with responsibility for systems can also adopt new technologies, and any opportunities or barriers that we face over the medium to long term.

Through a series of events, including webinars, roundtables, presentations and blog insights, we will seek to uncover where the UK has done well so far, and what more needs to be done. Our aim is to provide authorities with a series of recommendations on what can be done now to help the country and its systems become more resilient, especially in light of the move to greater digitalisation and decentralisation.

This campaign is just one way in which techUK is seeking to shift the conversation away from rhetoric and towards action, and we hope you will join us on this mission.

Input from members

Beyond our series of events that will be published over the coming months, and the opportunity to participate in the drafting of the final report, we would like to invite members to contribute to our campaign.

Via blogs, videos, or being an interviewee to discuss the role of technology in climate resilience, we want to hear your thoughts on what the UK needs to be doing. In particular, we are keen to hear your perspectives on the stages of resilience including:

  • Preparedness

  • Response

  • Adaptation

  • Mitigation

This could be a thought leadership blog post (400–600 words), a case study, or a video that demonstrates your views on this issue.

Email your word document submissions to [email protected]. Please ensure that you also submit a headshot photo, alongside your most updated job title, a short biography, and your company's logo.
