Event round-up: Social value in smart cities: how do we get it right?
On 31 January techUK convened local government, procurement specialists and tech companies to demystify and explore how we get social value right in the context of a smart city.
As social value grows in importance and forms a key part of the procurement and tendering process, it was great to get the local government perspective from Liz St Louis, Director of Smart Cities, Sunderland City Council. Liz shared how Sunderland measure social value and work with partners. Ella Grant, Managing Director, Advice Cloud outlined what a procurement of a smart city looks like and the implications for social value and what suppliers should be considering as a result. The excellent insights and practical tips continued in the presentations from Sarah Fasey, Social Value Lead, Microsoft UK, Peter Griffiths, Global Urban Futures Expert, BABLE Smart Cities and Hannah Griffiths and Senior Associate Director, Smart Places and Digital Infrastructure, Jacobs UK looking at everything from creating more accessible, greener, and inclusive smart places and cities.
