Event round-up: The Home Office Metis Portfolio Industry Briefing
On the 16 March we were delighted to host the Home Office for an industry briefing on the Home Office Metis Portfolio.
The Metis Portfolio is a pathfinder solution for moving Government Backoffice services to modern industry best practice cloud solutions. The service is part of one of the government shared services centres (Delivery Centre) and aligns to the most recent Government Shared Services (GSS) strategy to develop an approach to convergence.
It currently runs the Home Office Financial, Procurement, HR, Payroll and BPO services for 35,000 employees along with external suppliers/customers. The ambition of Metis is to provide a more customer centric approach to providing services, it will also enable the Home Office to work more intelligently, integrate and to share data across the organisation.
The Home Office would like to improve the service by looking to industry for examples that can be adopted, by reflecting prioritised business requirements, streamlining business processes, and improving system functionality to provide a better user experience, better customer service and better decision making. The contracts will initially be put in place on a short-term basis with a long-term view on how best to converge within the Home Office’s Delivery Centre in future.
Hayley Thomas, Metis Director, provided an introduction to the Metis Portfolio and the opportunities available. Attendees then heard an overview of the background of Metis from Steve Armiger, Metis Solution Architect; a service approach overview from Michael Wade, Head of Metis Services; and a commercial overview and next steps from Isabelle Payne, Metis Commercial Lead.
The event concluded with a question & answer session.
