Get involved in techUK’s Local Public Services Innovation Week 2022
techUK members and local government stakeholders are invited to contribute to techUK’s Local Public Services Innovation week, that will be taking place from Monday 23- Friday 27 May 2022.
During the week we will be showcasing the innovation happening across local government as well as exploring the emerging technologies and the conditions needed to transform the delivery and outcomes of local public services.
Each day during the week there will be a different topic with blog posts, tweets (#LPSInnovation) and case studies centred on each of those themes. This could be a thought leadership blog post (600-800 words) or a video that demonstrates your view on this issue. Read the full contributor guidelines here. We’d like to invite you to contribute on one of the topics outlined below. If you wish to contribute to a different topic, we would be more than happy to explore this further with you.
Events
It will be a packed week of events with local government leaders as well as a paper launch on how we can create the conditions for innovation to thrive and create a catalyst of change.
25 May - Creating the conditions for local public services innovation to thrive - Join us for the techUK local public services paper launch where we will hear from Redbridge and Norfolk council what innovation means and looks like for the council and place as well as a wider discussion on taking forward the recommendations and launching the Innovators Network. 26 May - The Digital Vision for Redbridge - The digital team at Redbridge Council will be briefing the wider council, public sector and techUK members on their digital vision and ambition and how they will achieve it. Register here.
27 May - Industry briefing with Dorset Council - Dorset have strong digital ambitions and vision, from 5G Rural Dorset, to transforming into a data-led intelligent council. Attend to be better informed of the council’s digital technologies and data priorities, the key problems they are trying to solve and how they engage and work with suppliers. Register here.

Monday 23 May: Emerging Technology
We explore the technologies transforming the delivery of our local public services and helping to solve some of the most pressing problems our communities and places face. This day will be an opportunity to not only demystify and showcase what those technologies are how they can be deployed but to also share user cases and to better understand the problems emerging technologies can help solve.
Tuesday 24 May: Culture & Leadership
Innovation isn’t one person but a collective effort and culture. How do we create the conditions for innovation and technology to thrive? We will also explore the role council leaders play in create a culture of innovation and empowering teams to do things differently.
Wednesday 25 May: Collaboration & Procurement
The opportunity innovation presents goes beyond transactional and efficiency. Meaningful innovation is driven by collaboration. How do we create the conditions needed for meaningful collaboration and showcase that it is possible? Procurement is also part of a bigger transformation and innovation puzzle. If done well and outcome-focused, it can help stimulate the local government tech market and create places where citizens can thrive and feel safe. How can we reframe the conversation around procurement and for it to become an enabler of innovation?
Thursday 26 May: Data-driven innovation
Exploring everything from opening up data to unlock insights to proactively meet the key challenges facing local area and place to better using data insights to deliver solutions that meet the needs of citizens.
Friday 27 May: Future gazing, the future of local public services
As we come to the end of the week, we horizon scan what the future operating models are and how tech and innovation will underpin this to enable a sustainable and resilient local public service.
