How to unlock the potential of digital, data and technology in policing

Policing is an information business.

Yet all too often, critical information that could keep the public safe simply doesn’t reach officers on the street or staff at the station.

  • A national strategy for interoperability

  • Investment in modern, scalable technology

  • Cultural change at the top

‘I think the report really sets out a clear view of the current position, the challenges we face and how we've got to this position. And yet, it offers some real insight into the opportunities going forward to do things differently and keep the public safe.’

Tony Blaker QPM

Chief of Staff, Digital, Data and Technology Coordination Committee NPCC

‘I think this report is a welcome nudge in the direction of increased interoperability. By better joining up data and information held in disparate systems, the police will be better equipped to protect the citizen and to provide an improved service.’
