In conversation with apprentices from FDM Group on AI and innovation
National Apprenticeship Week is the annual celebration of the positive impact of apprenticeships and the role they play in ensuring the future workforce is equipped with the skills it needs. In the UK’s fast-moving tech sector, apprentices aren’t just learning—they’re already making an impact.
We at techUK simply love National Apprenticeship Week, because we want to highlight just how valuable apprenticeships are for apprentices and employers alike and re-energise the mission to invest in apprenticeships. We leverage the week as an advocacy tool to ensure apprenticeships remain at the heart of the government’s skills strategy. There is more that we can do to enable businesses, especially SMEs, to use apprenticeships and attract and retain diverse talent and prepare them with the skills they need.
There are parts of industry who, misguidedly, don’t believe apprenticeships will add high quality talent. It stems from a lack of understanding of what apprenticeships and what they can lead to. Which is why this week is so important!
