NATO launches new commercial Space platform SPACENET
NIAG-SPACENET will serve as a promotional tool for NATO programmes and initiatives and through events and initiatives help to establish links between Space companies and NATO. NIAG-SPACENET and its wider industry network may also support and interface with NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) and the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF).
Challenges may be presented to NIAG-SPACENET and its industry subject matter experts on an adhoc basis or through a regular ‘Call for Problems’ across the wider NATO and Allied space enterprise. The network members may use a variety of options to provide industrial views, such as workshops, trials and experimentation events or reports.
NIAG-SPACENET will be established under the framework of NATO’s Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) promoting strategic dialogue between NATO and industry towards the enhancement of deterrence and defence of the Euro-Atlantic area and providing industry’s premium and trusted advice to the Alliance. To protect both demand and the supply sides, NIAG-SPACENET advice focuses on non-competitive activities – not impeding or unfairly enhancing industries’ ability to compete for contracts later.
How to join SPACENET
NIAG-SPACENET is open to all Space industries from across the Alliance. The network seeks participation from both defence and non-defence industries, including SMEs, start-ups, and dual-use companies. To join the network, industries are invited to apply through their national Head of Delegation from NATO’s Industrial Advisory Group.
