More information on the Prison Leavers Innovation Challenge and Prison Leavers Project below.

The Prison Leavers Innovation Challenge

The Prison Leavers Project is a £20 million cross-sector innovation programme that is piloting new ways to break the cycle of crime. The project complements wider cross-government work to reduce reoffending, acting as the ‘innovation hub’ of the Government’s reducing reoffending strategy.

As part of the Prison Leavers Project we have launched the Prison Leavers Innovation Challenge to look specifically at developing new technological tools and solutions that will help prison leavers stay on the straight and narrow, reducing the harms associated with crime.

The Prison Leavers Innovation Challenge is run as a two-phased Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition. 9 suppliers were chosen to take part in phase 1, the shortlisting phase. The solutions they have been developing are each in response to one of 5 areas of challenge we identified which will positively impact prison leavers on release.
