Procurement Week 2025 Round Up

During our most recent Procurement Week series of online events, we explored what changes in the Procurement Act 2023 will look like and how suppliers should prepare.

The Procurement Act 2023, which will go live on 24 February 2025, ushers in a new era for UK public sector procurement. Designed to streamline and modernise the process, the Act will create a simpler, more flexible commercial system that opens the market to new entrants—including small businesses and social enterprises—while embedding greater transparency and accountability.

During our recent series of online events (11-13 February), we explored what these changes will look like in practice and examined how the new regime will transform suppliers' engagement with the public sector. Our expert sessions covered everything from the impact on supplier bidding strategies and frameworks to leveraging social value and winning work under the new rules, providing actionable insights for businesses ready to thrive in this evolving landscape.

Winning Work Under the Procurement Act

On Tuesday 11 February, procurement experts from Advice Cloud led a practical and insightful webinar on adapting your bidding strategy for the new UK Procurement Act 2023. In this session, CEO Chris Farming shared expert tips on winning public sector contracts, detailed the evolving bidding processes—including the competitive flexible route and the central digital platform—and explained how to navigate new transparency requirements and framework opportunities.

Leveraging Social Value: How Tech SMEs can Win at Public Procurement

Our session on 12 February proved that being small can be a superpower in public procurement. Richard Dickins, MD of Social Value Business and Social Value Quality Mark CIC, debunked the myth that only large organisations can excel with social value. He shared practical strategies and insights—from building a strong social value proposition to understanding what commissioners and Local Authorities are looking for. With inspiring examples from Netcompany UK, tech SMEs were empowered to confidently navigate the new Public Procurement Act.
