51 working group meetings

2 flagship events

39 events

2 reports

2 new working groups

1 new committee

2 campaigns

1 new MoU

...and so much more...

January

...saw the announcement of the 2024/2026 Justice and Emergency Services (JES) Management Committee. An elected group (voted for by you!) in place to work with the techUK JES team to shape the strategic direction of the programme. Check out who you chose to represent you here.

February

... we formally announced our newly formed partnership with the National Fire Chiefs’ Council via an MoU. An agreement launched to facilitate collaboration between the two organisations across the digital, data and technology landscape, promoting a more transparent, vibrant and accessible technology market. You can find an overview of the MoU here.

Another highlight for the programme was our partnership event with the Justice Digital Senior Leadership team. Weren’t able to attend? You can read the round up and watch the session back in full here.

March

...was a very busy month for the team. But, one key highlight for us was welcoming Theo Blackwell, Chief Digital Officer for London and Sophie Linden, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime to our offices for a roundtable with members, policing and third sector to discuss improved collaborative working to end tech-enabled violence against women and girls (VAWG).

April

...we announced our seat on the National Fire Chiefs’ Council Digital Data and Technology Committee. With a seat at the table, we are in a position to encourage and assist fire services at a national level to maximise the added value of digital solutions, the power of information technology and effective partnership working. A very exciting step for the sector!

We also launched a media partnership with Policing Insight and Policing TV! Do you have a Policing Insight account? Check out some of our recordings here.

May

...was a jam packed month for the programme – three particular highlights included our first ever Fire Innovation Forum with the National Fire Chiefs’ Council.

The other - we partnered with our Digital Regulation team to deliver a roundtable on ‘Deepfake pornography’. The roundtable explored that whilst deepfake pornography is not a new threat, emerging technology allows perpetrators to create the images more quickly and to an unprecedented realism, making it harder to distinguish what is ‘real’. Whilst technology in this space is advancing faster than regulation, it is important that industry, policing and regulators collaborate closely.

Takeaways from the session:

  • Cross-sector collaboration is essential to tackle the issue.
  • There needs to be more advocation for prevention and education.
  • More promotion of good practices for detection.

Secondly, the launch of our Security and Public Safety SME Forum. The first session set the foundations of the forum, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation. Procurement processes and funding opportunities for SMEs was highlighted as needing to be demystified, using platforms like the forum. ...wasn’t just General Election month – but it was also our annual Justice and Emergency Services Flagship Reception where we welcomed over 100 attendees to Central London for an evening of drinks, canapes, networking and speeches. We had a fantastic line up of speakers which included:
