The UK signs a Statement of Mutual Cooperation with Texas
Today, the UK Government has signed a Statement of Mutual Cooperation with Texas, the second-largest US state, marking the most significant trade collaboration with a US state to date. The deal is aimed at bolstering trade and investment ties between the UK and Texas. The agreement focuses on reducing trade barriers, fostering investment, and promoting commerce between the two entities, particularly in sectors like energy, life sciences, and professional services.
The pact aims to facilitate quicker, easier, and more cost-effective business operations for companies in both regions and targets areas of shared expertise such as new energy solutions, including hydrogen and carbon capture, life sciences, and professional business services.
This development comes four months after the signing of the UK-Florida Memorandum of Understanding. The UK's has also signed agreements with seven other US states, amounting to helping British businesses access to a quarter of the entire US economy. The signing demonstrates a commitment to enhancing economic ties, innovation, and cooperation between the UK and Texas, with a focus on job creation, investment, and shared economic prosperity.
This Statement of Mutual Cooperation is a positive step in the direction. However, techUK will work together with members and the Government to better understand the opportunities that will come out of this agreement.
