Dan joined techUK as a Policy Manager for International Policy and Trade in March 2023.

Before techUK, Dan worked for data and consulting company GlobalData as an analyst of tech and geopolitics. He has also worked in public affairs, political polling, and has written freelance for the New Statesman and Investment Monitor.

Dan has a degree in MSc International Public Policy from University College London, and a BA Geography degree from the University of Sussex.

Outside of work, Dan is a big fan of football, cooking, going to see live music, and reading about international affairs.

James Markey

Founder, Universal Simulation (UNI SIM)

James Markey is the founder of UNI SIM and invented the world's first portable training simulator combining both haptics (virtual touch) and virtual reality (VR) for use with training simulations from around the world.

Since 2020, the Model-L (portable simulator) has been exported to countries such as Spain, Chile, Peru and Japan already and is set to revolutionise university training for generations to come. Using free resources from the DBT (Department for Business and Trade) and FCDO (Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office) is available to any UK company to stand the best chance of being noticed on the world stage and UNI SIM has benefited greatly from both Departments.

Valeria Vigilante

Digital Trade and Singapore Lead - FTA Utilisation Team, Department for Business and Trade

Valeria joined the Department for Business and Trade in April 2019. Since then, she has worked across a range of trade policy areas, such as UK MFN tariff regimes, trade remedies and FTA Implementation.

In her current role, she is leading on the Free Trade Agreement Utilisation strategy on Digital Trade, with a particular focus on Singapore and the UK-Singapore Digital Economy Agreement.

Valeria holds a masters degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor degree in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield.
