Tech firms are increasingly looking at voluntary carbon markets as part of their net zero plans, particularly after the COP 29 agreements to standardise them. However participating in VCMs can be complicated, expensive and they still attract scepticism and have question marks around verification and trust. In this webinar we look at what a carbon market is, how tech firms can participate, how to select the right projects and how to use them in their decarbonisation pathways. We will also examine how they can be used to support nature ambitions (a growing area of interest) and build a process to monitor their effectiveness.

Agenda:

  • 11:00 - 11:05  Welcome and introductions
  • 11:05 - 11:25  Voluntary Carbon Markets: what are they and how to get started: Joe Cantwell, Patch
  • 11:25 - 11:45  Choosing projects and efforts to support.
  • 11:45 - 12:00  Presentation: In house experience of using VCMs (Presenter TBC)
  • 12:00 - 12:15  Member Q&A.

Climate, Environment and Sustainability Programme activities

The techUK Climate Programme provides opportunities for members to present tech solutions that assist carbon emission reduction, circularity, and human rights goals. We also help our members with their own net zero transition, including measurement, implementation, compliance, and reporting. Visit the programme page here.
