On Monday 21 October from 10:00 - 11:30am we are delighted to be hosting this webinar which brings together experts from the Alan Turing Institute and key stakeholders in the public and private sectors to discuss the critical topic of digital ethics in public sector AI deployment.

The session aims to bridge the gap between AI suppliers and public sector demand, targeting techUK private sector companies looking to engage with the public sector, vendors in the AI and digital ethics space, and public sector representatives.

Agenda

  • Panel discussion: The panel discussion will focus on the importance of assurance and operationalising ethics in AI deployment for the public sector. Panelists will explore challenges and opportunities, introduce tools and frameworks for ethical AI implementation, and share best practices and case studies. This segment will provide valuable insights for both suppliers and public sector entities, fostering a shared understanding of ethical considerations in AI projects.
  • Presentation on the AI Ethics and Governance in Practice Programme: Smera Jayadeva and Antonella Perini from The Alan Turing Institute will present the AI Ethics and Governance in Practice Programme. This comprehensive initiative provides end-to-end guidance on implementing ethical values and practical principles across the AI project lifecycle. The presentation will cover the programme's eight workbooks and interactive online platform, explaining how they apply the Process-Based-Governance Framework developed in collaboration with the UK's Office for Artificial Intelligence and the Government Digital Service. Attendees will gain insights into key components such as:
    • Sustainability
    • Fairness
    • Technical safety
    • Accountability
    • Explainability,
    • and data stewardship, illustrated through relevant case studies.
  • Q&A session: This will allow participants to engage directly with the panelists and presenters. This interactive segment will provide an opportunity for attendees to seek clarification, share their perspectives, and explore potential collaborations.
  • Closing remarks: The session will wrap up with closing remarks, summarising key takeaways and providing information on additional resources and next steps.

Speakers

By bringing together diverse perspectives from both the demand and supply sides of public sector AI, this webinar aims to promote ethical reflection, share practical tools, and foster collaboration in the development and deployment of AI systems that are not only innovative but also ethical, safe, and responsible.
