Following the Chancellor's recent announcement on fostering pro-growth regulation, we’re gathering member insights to inform techUK's response. As the government seeks to ensure that regulatory frameworks support innovation and economic growth - this drop-in session on 13 February will give members the chance to share insights that will be crucial in shaping our recommendations.

Please share your input by 21st February via email [email protected] or let us know if you'd prefer a short call.

We’re particularly seeking views on:

  • Identifying specific regulatory challenges or barriers currently facing businesses' ability to grow and scale.

  • Areas where regulation can be made more efficient in terms of process.

    • i.e. Identifying where regulatory overlap causes inefficiencies.

  • Recommendations on how regulators can better support a pro-innovation environment.

Key questions to be explored:

  1. Regulatory Burdens:

  • What are the most significant regulatory burdens your business faces, and how do they impact your operations? Sector specific insights would be helpful.
  • Do you feel that the cumulative cost of regulation has increased?  If possible, please provide case studies or examples of regulations that could be streamlined or removed.
  1. Regulatory Overlaps:
  • Have you encountered any instances where regulatory requirements from different authorities overlap or conflict? How have you managed these situations?  If possible, please provide case studies or examples.
  1. Streamlining Regulations:
  • What suggestions do you have for streamlining regulations to reduce burdens and overlaps for businesses like yours?
  • How could improved coordination between regulatory bodies help alleviate the challenges posed by overlapping regulations?
  1. Impact on Innovation:
  • How do regulatory burdens and overlaps affect your ability to innovate and bring new products or services to market?
  • Are there particular regulatory changes that could facilitate greater innovation in your industry?
  • How useful do you find regulatory sandboxes in fostering innovation, and are there any successful practices from global regulators that we could consider adopting?
  1. Feedback on Regulatory Reforms:
  • Have recent regulatory reforms helped to reduce burdens or overlaps? If so, how?
  • What additional reforms or initiatives would you recommend to further simplify the regulatory landscape for businesses?
