On Thursday 25 July from (14:00-15:30) HMRC’s Internal Accessibility Centre of Excellence Team have arranged for a virtual supplier requirements meeting for a Wayfinder solution to support our visually impaired staff to navigate their workplace independently. In addition to notifying the market of the upcoming procurement, HMRC would like to understand the market’s interest in this opportunity as well as discussing our high-level requirements to address any gaps prior to publication. It will also be an opportunity for suppliers to ask questions about the process and next steps etc.
HMRC is seeking a supplier partner to share the exciting opportunity of piloting a Wayfinding solution for a 12-month period within one of HMRC’s regional office locations. The piloted solution will give our visually impaired staff an increased level of freedom and autonomy by enabling individuals to navigate their buildings in an effective and safe way independently. This will increase confidence and productivity, as well as supporting individual users' needs, which will further support work around reasonable adjustments and help HMRC to fulfil its legal obligation to comply with the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations (2018).
By conducting a pilot in one location, HMRC will be able to gain a greater understanding of what is possible from this type of solution and fully develop its requirements with a view to procuring a solution covering additional HMRC locations in the future.
