techUK’s tech and innovation programme is excited to join forces with the financial services programme for the first live webinar of the new Blockchain Re-imagined series.

In this webinar we will be exploring the exciting but increasingly complex world of DLT and how different industry leaders envision adoption in 2022 and beyond.

Speakers Include:

  • Paul Worthington, Public Policy Manager, Novi
  • Bryan D’Souza, Strategic Partnerships Lead, r3
  • Jannah Patchay, Policy Lead, Digital Pound Foundation
  • Rodger Oates, Consulting Partner, TCS
  • Paul Mortby, European Policy Lead, Square

Digital currency is one of the most discussed form of DLT adoption, but this is certainly not the only area where DLT can be useful for the UK financial services market. From identity services, lending, trade finance, global payments and foreign exchange, DLT Use cases are being developed across the globe.

This webinar will explore how the decline in cash usage and the shift towards digital finance and payments are pushing the discussion around digital currencies further. No longer futuristic speculation, regulators and industry are now having concrete debates about the viability and opportunities of digital currencies, both private and central bank digital currencies (CBDC).

By understanding what different aspects of the market are thinking, this webinar will clear misconceptions around digital currencies, and showcase the opportunities that could arise with the implementation of digital currencies, including fostering financial inclusion and providing a solid store of value, especially in developing economies, stimulating innovation across the whole ecosystem, reducing cost, facilitating cross-border payments and direct payments.

Specifically, we hope to address:

  • the current state of play around digital currencies including Central Bank Digital Currency
  • the key use cases and associated benefits for the ecosystem and customers
  • what this means for financial institutions, technology firms and how we can best prepare for adoption
