This initiative seeks to address current challenges and align the sector with future demands, ensuring the delivery of safe drinking water, effective wastewater management, and environmental protection. ​

Innovation and Technological Advancement

  • Digitalisation: Promoting the adoption of digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, data management, and customer engagement within the water sector.​
  • Data Management: Encouraging the integration of advanced data analytics to monitor system performance, predict maintenance needs, and support decision-making processes.

Regulatory Framework and Oversight

  • Effectiveness of Current Regulation: Evaluating the performance of existing regulatory bodies, such as Ofwat, in overseeing water companies and ensuring compliance with environmental and service standards.​
  • Financial Transparency: Assessing the financial practices of water companies, including debt accumulation and dividend distributions, to ensure consumer interests are safeguarded.​

Environmental and Public Health Protection

  • Pollution Control: Addressing concerns over pollution levels in rivers and coastlines, particularly related to sewage discharges, and exploring measures to enhance water quality.​
  • Infrastructure Resilience: Identifying strategies to improve the resilience of water infrastructure against climate change impacts and population growth.​
