techUK is hosting this event in partnership with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and industry together, to discuss and better understand the risks and opportunities, particularly near-medium-term, on the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI (GAI) in fire and rescue.

Objectives

To understand the art of the possible for LLMs and GAI in a fire and rescue setting.

Industry to be aware of the risks and considerations from a fire and rescue perspective of these. Particularly:

  • Data sovereignty
  • Transparency
  • Explainability
  • Ethics
  • Reliability of insights to support data-driven decision making
  • Risk of user over-reliance on AI generated material
  • To understand how it can be exploited for productivity and efficiency gains.

Please come prepared to respond to and discuss the below:

1. What are the opportunities and threats to fire and rescue effectively and securely adopting LLM and GAI capabilities?

2. How do we square the need for transparency and explainability of AI capabilities, with the inherent complexities of GAI and LLMs?

3. Where should fire and rescue be focussing its investment in LLM and GAI, both in terms of:

  • Ability to harness the technology
  • Skills required in the sector

4. How has industry engaged with other sectors and what things are being done to keep pace or exploit AI?

5. What does the fire and rescue sector need to provide industry in order for industry to develop safe, secure, and reliable LLM and GAI products and services for fire and rescue to consume?

6. How does NFCC’s DDaT function support these developments?

7. What can fire and rescue learn from other sectors?
