Quantum technologies could become an essential technology for financial services.
Quantum computing, with its ability to process complex calculations, has emerging use cases across financial services, risk management, portfolio optimisation, and fraud mitigation. Financial institutions who are able to leverage this technology early will gain crucial first mover advantage across these areas. To start on this journey, institutions will need to develop the right skills, identify the right use cases, and build new partnerships.
This session, as part of techUK’s quantum readiness event series, aims to show how financial institutions are starting to prepare for this advantage today. This is an opportunity to hear from industry leaders who are taking this journey, and the challenges they have faced as they begin to adopt quantum.
While not the primary objective of this event, it will also touch upon how to build quantum resilience, which is a primary concern for financial institutions. It will hope to dispel common misconceptions about quantum security, and emerging solutions to address this threat

This campaign explored how the UK can lead on the development, application and commercialisation of space technologies and ultimately realise the benefits of the New Space Economy.

Rory joined techUK in June 2023 after three years in the Civil Service on its Fast Stream leadership development programme.
During this time, Rory worked on the Government's response to Covid-19 (NHS Test & Trace), school funding strategy (Department for Education) and international climate and nature policy (Cabinet Office). He also tackled the social care crisis whilst on secondment to techUK's Health and Social Care programme in 2022.
Before this, Rory worked in the House of Commons and House of Lords alongside completing degrees in Political Economy and Global Politics.
Today, he is techUK's Programme Manager for Emerging Technologies, covering dozens of technologies including metaverse, drones, future materials, robotics, blockchain, space technologies, nanotechnology, gaming tech and Web3.0.
