The Digital Identity sector is moving quickly. From 2023-2024, dedicated Digital ID companies generated an estimated £2.05bn in annual revenue, employing almost 11,000 people in the UK. OfDIA commissioned research suggests that the last five years have shown consistent growth too, averaging 11.7% annal increases in employment.
Digital verification methods are slowly expanding in use cases, with the ability to verify identity in bars and nightclubs soon to be a reality. With the establishment of OfDIA, and the Trust Framework soon to be enshrined under the Data Use and Access Bill, there’s potential for a tidal wave of new digital processes which can become safer, more secure and more convenient.
That requires a vision. A long-term and strategic approach from Government can enable digital identity to bring it’s benefits to more aspects of the public and private sector.
As a follow-up to our Digital ID Summit in November, this roundtable will delve deeper into the opportunities and challenges for the Digital ID sector. Join techUK as we convene key stakeholders from industry, government, and the wider ecosystem to discuss the next steps for advancing digital identity, increasing adoption, and unlocking its potential to address the UK’s pressing priorities.
