On the evening of Tuesday 14 November, techUK is delighted to invite members and public sector colleagues to a special panel event which will look at tackling supply chain risks facing the public sector. Due to capacity restrictions, RSVP’s will be on a first come first served basis.

With special guest speakers:

  • Robert Hannigan, Chairman, BlueVoyant and former Director GCHQ
  • Stuart Frost, Head of Enterprise Security & Risk Management, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
  • Hadyn Brooks, CEO, RiskLedger

Event title: Securing Public Sector Supply Chains – Moving Beyond Third-Party Risk Management

Date: Tuesday 14 November 2023

Time: 6pm to 7.30pm, with arrival & food from 5.30pm and a drinks reception afterwards

Venue: techUK, second floor, 10 St Bride Street, London, EC4A 4AD

The fallout from the recent MOVEit Transfer attack has affected over 1000 organisations through third parties and demonstrates the enormous importance of securing our supply chains. In light of the rising threat of supply chain cyber-attacks like this, and especially in light of rising geopolitical tensions, the event will explore Government and public sector efforts to date to address this risk, as well as what we need to focus on going forward in order to strengthen the UK public sector’s cyber resilience.

The UK Government, very much aware of the scale of the threat, has taken a determined leadership role in addressing it, not least through the ‘UK Government Cyber Security Strategy 2022–2030’. This event will zoom in on the strategy’s focus on supply-chain cyber security. Specifically, our panellists will explore themes such as:

  • The heightened risk of state-sponsored attacks against the UK public sector as a result of a worsening global geopolitical situation.
  • The key challenges involved in securing public sector supply chains.
  • Suggested Government approaches to reduce supply chain cyber risk, and what has been done to date.
  •  Best practices for supply chain risk management in the public sector and what the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has been doing to strengthen their resilience.
  • Increasing resilience in public sector supply chains through Defend-as-One.

The audience will also have the opportunity to put their questions to our speakers, under Chatham House rules.
