Every business will own intellectual property (IP) - the name you trade under, the look or the function of products you make or use, even the brochures you create to promote your business. In the tech industry, IP is vital for SMEs to protect and commercialise their innovations. Securing IP can make an SME more attractive for raising investment and enable significant growth for the business.

For this session, we'll be focusing on support for IP available to SMEs. We'll be joined by Nicholas Chard from the Intellectual Property Office (IPO). The IPO is the official UK government body responsible for intellectual property. It can help you understand how your IP can be protected effectively across a range of IP, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trademarks.

Nicholas will provide an overview of the IPO and support available for SMEs. They'll be an opportunity to ask your questions and feedback more specific areas within the tech industry you'd be keen to explore on future sessions with the IPO.
