techUK member Opencast are pleased to be headline sponsors for TechNExt, a week-long tech festival for the North East of England. To kick-off the festivities for the week, Opencast are hosting the panel session Build vs Buy; How new tech impacts decisions, on Monday 17 June, 14:00-15:00 at Opencast HQ, The Kiln, Hoults Yard Newcastle Upon Tyne NE6 1AB.
This Opencast TechNExt session focuses on the debate about whether buying a commercial off-the-shelf solution (COTS) or building technology from scratch is the best choice. Our speakers will dive into the pros and cons of each and how new technologies, like how using AI writing code, will affect decisions.
We have speakers from Government, the third sector and the private sector coming together to share their thoughts on this perennial discussion point in tech conversations.
The panel
- Karl Hoods CBE – Group Chief Digital and Information Officer, Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology
- David Knott – Chief Technology Officer, UK Government
- Gordon Murray – Head of Architecture, Opencast
- Joanne Todd – Chief Information Officer, St John Ambulance
techUK members and stakeholders can register for free here. There are in-person and virtual places available.
We’d love you to join the discussion in person or online. If you’re able to attend at our Hoults Yard HQ, please join us from 1.30pm for refreshments and networking after the session ends. Book your place now!
