New SME Report | UK Tech SMEs: Driving Economic Growth and Innovation

5862.png

This report illustrates the critical impact of tech SMEs across the nations and regions. techUK has combined quantitative data from Beauhurst with interviews from tech SMEs to provide both the current macroeconomic picture of tech SMEs, but also the economic and social impact made by individual tech SMEs.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the UK economy, representing over 99% of all businesses and providing about 60% of private sector employment. SMEs drive competition, stimulate innovation and create jobs — all of which are essential for economic growth. To capitalise on the forthcoming technological revolution, it is vital to foster an environment where these enterprises can thrive.

To further understand the economic and social impact of tech SMEs in the UK, techUK has undertaken quantitative and qualitative research. The research has comprised of data outlining the current macroeconomic picture of tech SMEs in the UK, and interviews with 30 tech SMEs to understand the further the successes and challenges they have had as a business, and how the UK Government and organisations can better support them to grow.

The launch event will introduce the findings of the latest report and will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and investors to discuss the report’s insights and their implications
