Many software companies find calculating scope 3 emissions challenging, even though they typically represent a significant portion of their total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Whilst there is a lot of guidance already available on indirect or “value chain” GHG emissions, referred to as scope 3 emissions, sector-specific nuances can create uncertainties and inconsistencies in reporting.
Earlier this year, Initiative Climat International (iCI) and ERM published a new guidance document to assist software companies in accounting for scope 3 emissions, using a robust and credible approach based on the latest guidance, protocols, and standards available. The intent is to go beyond just carbon accounting by identifying challenges, resources, and tips that are specific to the software sector and can help a software company identify, report, and ultimately reduce its Scope 3 GHG emissions.
Join iCI and ERM to learn more about the guidance and hear from other software companies about their challenges and how they overcame them.
