Overview

On 29 January, we will bring together tech experts, policy makers, academics and thought leaders at techUK’s flagship International Policy & Trade Conference

29 January 2025

Central London

8.30am – 2pm

Conference

The UK technology sector has long been a beacon of innovation and dynamism, driving economic growth and global influence. It has consistently grown faster than the wider economy, with the sector reaching a combined market valuation of $1.1 trillion in Q1 2024.

Yet, in an era marked by geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and a complex regulatory landscape, the sector's resilience and capacity for growth are being put to the test.

These changes pose unique challenges to the UK as a trade-dependent, mid-sized economy. However, the UK has substantial strengths. The UK’s thriving tech sector can be a powerful engine for growth and resilience, especially with the right policy decisions by the government. Since coming to power, the new government has taken some encouraging steps, including a renewed focus on industrial strategy and investments in key areas. It is now essential to follow these early moves with substantial action to ensure the tech sector is resilient to global challenges and well-equipped to continue to power UK growth.

During this conference, techUK will launch a major new report providing recommendations to the UK government on building policy coherence and longevity, enabling security and resilience, accelerating growth through trade and strengthening international development and cooperation.

This conference will convene leading industry executives, policymakers and academics to explore how the UK tech industry can navigate these challenges while capitalizing on emerging opportunities. Discussions will focus on fostering innovation, ensuring supply chain resilience, and strengthening global partnerships in an increasingly fragmented world.
